UNLADYLIKE2020: Maggie Lena Walker premiering at Virginia Film Festival

We are proud to announce that our short about Maggie Lena Walker, the first African American woman bank president, is premiering today October 21 through October 25 at the 33rd Virginia Film Festival, a program of the University of Virginia, as part of the Women in Film Series supported by Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. A native of Richmond, VA, Walker led city-wide boycotts against segregated streetcars a full 50 years before the Montgomery bus boycott, in addition to founding a newspaper, department store, and the St. Luke Penny Savings Bank. Our 10 minute film will precede a screening of the documentary feature Women in Blue about Minneapolis’ first female police chief in Minneapolis.

Please purchase tickets for the virtual screening here for $8: https://watch.eventive.org/virginiafilmfestival/play/5f5ba07abebf3d006a205b97
